When I look at the map below, it looks like I already saw an awful lot of Europe. Well, when a 3-day visit in St. Petersburg earns me Russia and a day stop-over in Helsinki adds all Finland, well, it’s not that difficult to colour the map. But I did go there and do have stories to tell. Sweden, haven’t I been to Sweden also? Ferry anyone? Got to check that one again.
Spain is easy – I lived there for about 16 years and been places. A few years back I started hiking the “Way of St. James” – starting in Irún – with one of my best friends. Well, 2019 we couldn’t find a common date and had to cancel and 2020 – hm, COVID, you know. But 2021 looks promising and we are confident to get to Santiago de Compostela and later “Finesterre” … one day.
Portugal mainland and Iceland are destinations I visited in 2020 during COVID and the Netherlands are just a “stone-throw” from my steps. So – before COVID – my favourite route sometimes was the supermarket across the border, if I forgot to get something and was in dire need of just THAT ingredient.
